Journal Entry 11.1.23

Today I drove from KK to Matunggong.  On the wrong side of the road.  Each time I seem to do this drive it shortens.  My parents rarely made it to KK, when it was known as Jesselton, in 1959, having to go by boat, on an all day trip from Kudat.

When I first came to Sabah, it took 4 hours to drive from KK to Matunggong.  Today it took 2 ½ hours.  All the landmarks are the same.  There are the rice fields that signal Mount Kinabalu is in the distance.  There is Kota Marudu and the signs for Kota Belud.  There is the palm oil plantation with its gothic looking factory.

Paths change and yet remain the same.  Paths remain the same yet are always changing.
