Journal Entry 12.16.23

Fire is used in ritual around the world. It cleanses the world of death. It frightens away bad spirits. It symbolizes rebirth. It indicates joy and fierceness. Fire is a basic element. It keeps us warm, allows us to cook our food, provides coziness and light in our houses. Fire is both dangerous and a comfort. The solstice season is upon us, the light is dying, in the northern hemisphere, the light coming in at dramatic angles low on the horizon catches our attention and is a warning, a harbinger that we must remain alert. The sun is dying! The nights are long and we must pay attention, if not we will lose our light. We must burn a fire and call back the light. The sun must be reborn. We must be reborn.
