Sometimes joy just sneaks up on you. Sometimes when you least expect it and the form isn’t what you thought it should be, joy still find you. Joy is a gift that is easily missed if you are rigid or if you are fearful or if you are lost in what you think things should be like. Joy is the breeze, blowing softly on your skin, the smell of pine boughs stepped on before the are seen. Joy is the warmth of someone’s skin on yours, the sound of a creek discovered in the woods. It is also a moment, unanticipated. Joy can be lost you are more focused on control or fear or when you think you know better that the flow of life in the universe. Joy is and joy chooses us, we don’t get to choose when joy will find us. All we can do is be light enough on our toes so that when joy finds us we aren’t so wrapped up in our misery that we miss out on the gift.
