Today we left Upper Tsum. More real grief. More real sadness. Saying goodbye to new friends. But also I knew what to expect as we walked out of the village. I know the paths, the mani walls, the houses of our friends and I began to think about how we ask our field researchers to do “community mapping”.
Community mapping shows not everything that can go on a map, but the parts that are important to that community, be it a school, a water source, or a district office. What is my community? What is important in each part of that community? How would I visualize it? How would I draw a map of my life? Of my self?
